Job Overview
Calkin Public Affairs is seeking an experienced account supervisor who excels in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, strategy-oriented environment. The successful candidate possesses superior professional relationships, project management and organizational skills, is a strong writer and detail-oriented, and is comfortable interacting with the media. They must also have an understanding of the state legislature, public affairs, political campaigns, and integrated strategic communications as a critical function of any advocacy effort. Client and team management with supervision is desired, with a high degree of professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Serve as daily client contact, working with an integrated team to provide strategic counsel and manage communications and public affairs campaigns. Lead client calls, send out agendas, track and/or develop deliverables and action items
- Develop and execute integrated public affairs strategies, including messaging, collateral materials, media relations, digital advocacy, coalition building, and stakeholder engagement
- Conduct policy research and analysis to inform messaging and advocacy initiatives
- Draft and edit materials, op-eds, policy briefs, and social media content
- Build and maintain relationships with key media, policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders
- Monitor and recommend action on legislative, regulatory, and political developments that impact client objectives
- Oversee account operations, ensuring deliverables meet high-quality standards and deadlines.
- Mentor and manage junior team members, providing clear directions and feedback
- Lead pitch messaging and proposal development (in coordination with leadership)
Qualifications
- Have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, public affairs or a related field
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or possess equivalent work experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft products and AI integration
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to juggle multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Experience ensuring deliverables meet high-quality standards and deadlines
- Experience overseeing client account operations and have served as a client contact
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Strong writer who can communicate clearly and effectively with various audiences on a range of topics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, personal organization and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of digital advocacy tools and campaign tactics
- Experience with regulatory and legislative processes
- Have developed and executed integrated public affairs strategies, including media relations, digital advocacy, and stakeholder engagement
- Comfortable providing strategic counsel
- Comfortable building relationships and interacting with the media, and pitching content, and backgrounding
- Have conducted policy research and analysis
- Have experience drafting and editing press materials, op-eds, policy briefs, and social media content
- Comfortable building relationships with coalition partners and other stakeholders
- Political campaign experience a plus, but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
