Job Description

About the Center for Scholars & Storytellers

The Center for Scholars & Storytellers (CSS) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit bridging the gap between psychology and media to help the next generation thrive.

CSS is the only youth-centered organization connecting the entertainment industry and academia to build a research-informed community of storytellers who support the well-being of kids, teens, and young adults. We conduct original research, bring together leaders across industries, elevate youth voices, consult with content creators, and develop practical resources that help storytellers better understand and serve young people.

CSS is affiliated with UCLA through the faculty appointment of our founder, Dr. Yalda T. Uhls, in UCLA’s Department of Psychology.

  • Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, materials, invitations, vendors, and other details as needed.
  • Help track communications, marketing, and event-related projects and deadlines.
Development Support
  • Schedule donor meetings and assist with meeting preparation, including logistics and background research.
  • Coordinate CSS’s annual donor thank-you card process, including ordering supplies, organizing team participation, and managing mailing.
  • Provide administrative support for other fundraising and donor engagement activities as needed.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Has strong follow-through and takes pride in making sure things get done.
  • Can manage multiple projects, deadlines, and requests without losing track of the details.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
  • Is comfortable working independently in a primarily virtual environment while also collaborating closely with a small team.
  • Exercises good judgment and discretion when handling schedules, contacts, and organizational information.
  • Is comfortable learning and using digital tools; experience with Google Workspace and Airtable is a plus.
  • Has an interest in CSS’s work at the intersection of youth, research, storytelling, and media.

Experience supporting executives, coordinating events, managing social media, or working in a nonprofit or similarly fast-moving environment is helpful, but we encourage candidates with transferable experience to apply.
