The Center for Court Innovation (CCI) is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.
We operate at the cutting edge of criminal justice reform in the New York area by developing, planning, launching, and managing large-scale projects that serve thousands of justice-involved people each year. Our projects include the award-winning Red Hook Community Justice Center, the Midtown Community Court, Bronx Community Solutions, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives, Staten Island Justice Center, and Newark Community Solutions. We also operate supervised release programs (as an alternative to bail) in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island; Project Reset, an early diversion program in Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn; young adult courts in Brooklyn and Manhattan; and new felony alternative-to-incarceration programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our criminal justice programs work with nearly 30,000 individuals each year.
The Strategic Planning and Impact Department is a new department of the Center for Court Innovation working directly with the Criminal Justice Program and Community Development and Crime Prevention (CDCP) departments. The department will serve as a starting line for strategic initiatives critical in shaping organizational strategy related programming. A primary objective of the department is to improve our operations through ensuring our work is aligned with our organizational core values (integrity, impact, equity and collaboration), the four pillars of the organization (One Center, People First, Operational Excellence and Systemic Change) and active initiatives.
The Center's Strategic Planning and Impact (SPI) Department is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to support the work of the Department Director and the whole team more broadly. Working closely with the SPI Director and Deputy Director, the Administrative Coordinator will manage administrative processes, develop protocols, and carry out organizational tasks central to the team’s work. This role will facilitate collaboration with various other Center departments as needed (Operations, Community Development and Crime Prevention, Fiscal, Human Resources, Development, Technology, Data Analytics and Research, Technical Assistance, etc.). Specifically, the Administrative Coordinator will assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, note-taking, budgeting/timesheet administration, grant tracking and planning, project management and organization, and expense reconciliation, among other duties. This position offers an opportunity to develop project management skills and to help support the building of the new department’s portfolio and scope while working on a diverse array of projects and initiatives that span across the Center’s work.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Director and Deputy Director in overseeing team administration;
- Coordinate meetings including scheduling, agenda setting, note taking, and circulating next steps;
- Develop and manage up-to-date documentation of team and organization protocols;
- Coordinate hiring process of new team members (phone screens/scheduling), as needed;
- Manage candidates and job posting updates in the Center’s hiring platform (JazzHR);
- Coordinate onboarding of new team members;
- Carry out organizational tasks relating to on-going planning and implementation for new initiatives, evaluations, and existing projects (e.g., timeline and task ownership documentation);
- Provide support and coordination of cross-collaboration internally and externally;
- Work with the Technology and Communications departments to organize and maintain SPI Court Innovation website;
- Coordinate team expenses, including monthly reconciliation, and manage within the expense management software;
- Coordinate grant proposals, contribute to grant writing, and monitor existing grant timelines;
- Arrange event planning, including catering, as needed (in collaboration with the Center’s Office Manager);
- Provide generalized support on team projects and department efforts;
- Additional relevant tasks, as needed.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of relevant professional experience. Prior experience in non-profit or government organizations preferred. Experience with and comfort using administrative/communication software applications is preferred (e.g., Slack, Concur, Zoom, Jira, payroll systems, JazzHR, Salesforce). The ideal candidate should have strong Microsoft Office skills. Candidate must have a strong ability to effectively juggle multiple priorities and a strong attention to detail. Candidate must be a skilled multi-tasker able to manage supporting multiple different projects across the Center’s various departments as needed. The ideal candidate must possess excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills; be an independent, motivated worker; and be passionate about criminal and social justice issues.
Compensation: Salary range starts at $51,300 and is commensurate with experience.
