Job Description
The Center for New Liberalism is seeking a part-time, paid fellow to collaborate with our team and sister think tank in the spring. An ideal candidate will be a news and political junkie with a broad skill set and experience shifting seamlessly between a wide variety of tasks.
CNL’s Spring Advocacy & Digital fellow will be given significant creative ownership, with the opportunity to shape our digital strategy on social media platforms and our organizing strategies for chapters. Additionally, the Spring fellow will have opportunities to gain experience in policy research, event planning, public affairs, and government relations as they come up.
Must have a genuine interest in advancing center-left politics globally, a strong working knowledge of domestic politics and current national issues, and experience with social media networks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and multitasking skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to drive results and consistently meet deadlines are a must.
This position is in-person only and based in Washington, D.C.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and produce written deliverables to support the efforts of CNL’s chapter network.
- Support CNL’s digital strategy through creative content production and graphic design for organizational events.
- Assist the grassroots team with updating and maintaining their website.
- Assist with compiling and drafting newsletters and other email campaigns.
- Support the grassroots team in the planning & execution of their annual summit.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of and strong interest in advancing center-left politics and policies
- Fluency in current social media trends and digital engagement strategies on sites including Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and other sites.
- Experience with graphic design and video editing software.
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to be a team player and to work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to self-start and meet deadlines
Preferred:
- Prior experience working on or volunteering for a campaign, political office, or grassroots group.
- Experience working with Squarespace or web development tools such as HTML, CSS and Javascript.
- Experience with EveryAction/NGP VAN’s email and event system
Fellows are paid at a rate of $18.00/hour.
