Organization Overview:
The mission of the Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) is to champion community-centered primary care in New York State through leadership, advocacy, and support of Community Health Centers. To do this, CHCANYS serves as the voice of community health centers, working to ensure that every New York State community has primary care that encompasses all aspects of each patient’s health and well-being. CHCANYS is a dynamic, team-oriented, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and as New York State’s Primary Care Association (PCA), advocates on behalf of and provides technical assistance to community health centers (CHCs, health centers) throughout New York State. New York’s nearly 900 CHCs sites provide comprehensive, community-based primary and preventative care services to 2.4 million New Yorkers annually, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. CHCANYS is nationally recognized for its programs in health policy, performance improvement, health information technology, health system planning, and training and technical assistance (T/TA).
Position Summary (NOTE: When applying you must include a cover letter with your résumé):
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Service Programs, the AmeriCorps Program Manager (APM) will be providing operational and administrative support for the state-wide CHCANYS AmeriCorps program. This position is responsible for recruitment of AmeriCorps Members and implementing AmeriCorps Member training. The APM will work on assigned focus areas that could include Member recruitment, Member training, Member and Host Site support, compliance monitoring, and documentation and data tracking and collection. The Program Manager will work closely with CHC staff and internal teams to ensure deliverables are met on time, within scope, and with measurable impact. Success in this role requires a strong communicator who can tailor messages effectively to potential applicants, applicants, Members, and health center staff ensuring that messaging is in line with the CHCANYS AmeriCorps program and CHC’s delivery priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
Member Recruitment:
- Develop recruitment strategies, marketing strategies, and support AmeriCorps member recruitment process, conducting interviews and working with sites to identify member placement for AmeriCorps members.
- Manage AmeriCorps member recruitment process, including screening applications, scheduling and conducting interviews, maintaining recruitment tracker database, and working with sites to identify member placement for CHCANYS AmeriCorps.
- Coordinate program marketing and recruitment strategy, including development of recruitment materials, maintaining the CHCANYS AmeriCorps website, participating in university and college career fairs, and posting service listings in Handshake and other job search websites.
- Work with the CHCANYS communications team on developing the program’s social media strategy, including highlighting member stories, the host site experience, and participating in NYS and AmeriCorps led social media campaigns.
Member Training:
- Develop and facilitate ongoing educational and training opportunities for AmeriCorps members, creating opportunities for joint service projects, training, and professional development.
- Facilitate meetings and training activities, including full participation of CHCANYS’ AmeriCorps members in the members‘ pre-service and site supervisor orientations, monthly AmeriCorps trainings, Service Projects, National Days of Service, and other program and team events.
- Coordinate logistics for member trainings and events, including setting up training space, making travel arrangements, catering orders, and other training-related needs.
Member and Host Site Support:
- Work with host site Supervisors to develop appropriate placements for AmeriCorps members. Conduct evaluation with Site Supervisors regarding current members and service projects.
- Set up authorized users, monitor data entry, and provide technical assistance to members and program sites as needed.
- Track AmeriCorps member benefits, such as enrolling eligible members in The Corps Network health insurance, reviewing and approving reimbursement requests, enrolling members in training opportunities, and other program benefits as needed.
- Provide support and technical assistance to program host sites, members, and other stakeholders to ensure that project requirements and objectives are met on a timely basis.
Program Compliance and Monitoring:
- Maintain member database, documentation charts, and timesheets on the Smartsheet and OnCorps Reporting system for the CHCANYS AmeriCorps program.
- Assist with compliance and risk assessment monitoring of CHCANYS’ AmeriCorps host sites by participating in regularly scheduled compliance and monitoring host site visits.
- Monitor eGrants portal, OnCorps Reports, and other systems that support members and program reporting requirements.
- Assist with the design and development of internal program evaluation tools to assess the impact of training and activities on members’ service year.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Business, Social Sciences, or related field required.
· Master’s degree (MPH, MHA, MPA, or related) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of related program management, or a related role in healthcare, public health, or nonprofit settings experience.
- Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Primary Care Associations, or other healthcare delivery systems strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering training.
- Strong background in recruiting, outreach, marketing campaigns, communications or related experience strongly preferred.

· Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including AmeriCorps Members and Host Site staff.
· Knowledge of healthcare, and health equity principles.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
· Organization and Time Management: a strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
· Ensures quality and compliance requirements.
· Adaptability with evolving priorities.
· Proficiency with project management tools, MS Office Suite, and virtual collaboration platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
· Ability to travel within the state (as needed).
· Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
