Summary
This position is located in the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Office of Intelligence. ONDCP's mission is to develop and implement evidence-based public health and public safety policies that reduce drug use and its consequences. The Office of Intelligence is the main coordinating body for ensuring that policy-making is based on the latest intelligence.
Duties
This position is located in the Executive Office the President (EOP), Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Office of Intelligence (OI). ONDCP's mission is to develop, implement and sustain the President's agenda regarding trafficking and use of illicit drugs and misuse and abuse of prescription drugs through its National Drug Control Strategy. As the Assistant Director for Intelligence, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the incumbent has overall responsibility for developing and recommending intelligence policy and program aspects of the National Drug Control Program.
As an Assistant Director for Intelligence, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Supervises a staff of intelligence professionals in ONDCP's Office of Intelligence who provide the Director, ONDCP and other senior-level counterdrug decision makers a wide variety of intelligence support to include daily intelligence briefings (orally and/or in writing).
Provides counterdrug intelligence briefing books to counterdrug interagency decision makers to include the Intelligence Community member agencies and the NSC staff.
Chairs weekly counterdrug Intelligence Community (IC) Secure Video Tele Conference (SVTC) including all members of the IC, law enforcement (LE) agencies, and operational elements of DOD.
Responsible for the operation and security of a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF), computer and communications systems and a large volume of classified national security information.
Drafts the intelligence portion of the National Drug Control Strategy; reviews counterdrug intelligence programs of the drug control and IC agencies; and provides recommendations to the Director, ONDCP, concerning changes in counterdrug intelligence organization, management, budgets and resource allocation of Federal drug control agencies and IC partners.
Provides additional intelligence support to the mission including ONDCP Coordination Groups, other components and senior ONDCP staff members.
Establishes and maintains contact with senior intelligence, operations, and policy officials in the drug control and/or intelligence departments and agencies for the purpose of insuring coordination and compliance with intelligence aspects of the National Drug Control Strategy.
Represents ONDCP on national-level intelligence committees and working groups related to high-level intelligence events.
