Creative Capital supports underserved, risk-taking artists in the creation of new work and in building sustainable practices to advance freedom of expression and build sustainable artistic practices. For nearly 25 years, Creative Capital has provided unrestricted project grants, professional development programs, industry connections, and community building for groundbreaking individual artists across the country, including Simone Leigh, Jeffrey Gibson, Branden Jacobs Jenkins, Kristina Wong, Raven Chacon, Vijay Iyer, Kassa Overall, and others.

 

The Assistant to the President reports to and supports the President and Executive Director of Creative Capital in managing their day to day needs, including calendar, travel, events, and communications. This position will act as a liaison between the President, Board of Directors, donors, staff, institutions, partners, and artists working across the visual arts, performing arts, film, technology, literature, and multidisciplinary and socially engaged forms. 

 

The ideal Assistant is diplomatic, professional, gregarious, agile, collaborative, efficient, pragmatic, and proactive in supporting the President’s office and in building relationships with the organization's numerous donors, board members, community partners, and acclaimed artists. This position requires a passion for the arts, enthusiasm, energy, exceptional writing skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

●      Manage President’s calendar and provide support for travel and attendance at events and industry convenings

●      Draft and process correspondence for the President

●      Coordinate President’s travel arrangements, draft itineraries, procure all necessary materials for to events, meetings, conferences, and manage related expense reporting 

●      Provide support for all aspects of Presidents interaction with the Board of Directors, including meeting logistics, agenda development, and minute taking

●      Assist with organizing meetings, ensuring availability of required materials and related logistical matters; attend meetings and prepare minutes as requested; handle actionable and follow-up items

●      Ensure that workflow is handles for maximum efficiency and be proactive in anticipating needs of the President

●      Actively photograph events, coordinate communications and documentation, and manage social media communications for and with the President

●      Manage and research special projects and events as needed on behalf of the President

●      Various other executive support tasks as assigned

●      Actively supports the President whenever and wherever the President is working

 

QUALIFICATIONS

●      BA or similar degree and 5+ years of work experience supporting a CEO or senior executive

●      Strong skills with Mac OS, MS Office, Salesforce, G-Suite, Adobe Photoshop, etc.

●      Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English

●      Strong project management and organizational skills

●      Capacity to independently execute tasks with accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail

●      Passionate about the arts with enthusiasm for evening and weekend events, as well as travel

●      Pleasant demeanor, gregarious, collaborative, team player, and professional work style

●      Ability to work independently and as part of a team

●      Ability to organize, prioritize workload, problem solve and handle multiple tasks under pressure

●      Honesty, integrity, and confidentiality

The position is full-time, in-person in the NYC office five days a week during normal business hours with occasional weekends and evenings as needed, exempt. Some travel may be required - both national and international, as needed. Candidates must be based in the New York City area. Includes generous paid time off and benefits. 

Salary range: $80,000 to $98,000 commensurate with experience. Excellent medical, dental, life, disability, and 401K benefits plan. Our staff also has generous vacation, sick leave, and personal days, and a collegial and collaborative work environment.
