About SEA: Sea Education Association (SEA) is a non-profit educational institution and an internationally recognized leader in undergraduate ocean education. Since 1971, SEA has educated undergraduate, high school and gap year students about the world’s oceans through its Boston University accredited study abroad program, SEA Semester® and other programs. SEA is located on Cape Cod in the oceanographic research community of Woods Hole (Falmouth) and owns and operates two sailing research vessels: the SSV Corwith Cramer in the Atlantic Ocean and the SSV Robert C. Seamans in the Pacific.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant/Associate Director of Development is a fully engaged member of the Development team, supporting Sea Education Association Development, Alumni Relations, and Parent Relations goals. The successful candidate must be an independently motivated, goal-oriented, strategic thinker who can execute multiple priorities and succeed in a dynamic, team-oriented, results-driven environment.
MAJOR TASKS
Annual Fund
1) Develops and implements effective fundraising strategies with a focus upon alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni, leveraging a variety of tactics as appropriate, including external personal visits, personalized written campaigns, giving challenges, direct mail, and email.
2) Identifies, recruits, develops, and stewards a cohort of Annual Fund Class Agent volunteer leaders.
a. Support Class Agents with volunteer job descriptions and training materials
3) In partnership with Director of Leadership Gifts and Stewardship, ensures timely, accurate, and personalized receipting and acknowledgment of Annual Fund gifts.
4) Identifies, cultivates, and develops a dynamic portfolio of 25 leadership-level Annual Fund prospects.
Alumni Coordination
1) Builds an effective alumni outreach program through regional events, newsletters, and maintenance of the website. Manage website content for Alumni Relations/Parent section.
2) Supports the efforts of Class Agents in maintaining contact with their classmates.
3) Organizes all aspects of annual regional alumni events and, when possible, alumni reunion.
4) Informs current students of alumni roles and involvement opportunities while they are on campus and prepares completion certificates and transition packets for each class.
5) Organizes and implements plans for alumni short program cruises.
6) Publishes e-newsletters for all donors including alumni.
7) Prepares Parent Packet and mails to parents for each class.
8) Prepares and manages the Alumni budget.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2‒3 years of similar experience in a profit or not-for-profit organization and should relate strongly to SEA's mission that combines academic rigor and applied education. The individual must have strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills. The individual must be able to work under pressure.
While working cooperatively with many members of the SEA staff, the Assistant/Associate of Development Coordinator must be able to work well independently. Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred. College degree required.
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience. SEA offers a full benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; retirement plans; Aflac; flexible spending accounts; and generous vacation/sick/personal time and holidays.
