Position Title:             Center Support Aide

Program:                          Arroyo Grande Wellness Center – Safe Haven


Position Summary

The Center Support Aide of SLO Wellness Centers in Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, and San Luis Obispo is responsible for assisting with organization and direction of SLO Wellness Centers designed to assist adults in their journey to mental health wellness & recovery, as well as connect members and participants to their community. This position promotes trauma informed mental health wellness & recovery for the members and is responsible for having knowledge and skills in all aspects of the Wellness Center. The Center Support Aide will uphold and promote the Center philosophy as well as the philosophy of TMHA in all duties performed. This position promotes social interaction and support, encouraging members in the recovery process.



Position Expectations:

·        Possess strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills

·        Ability to handle crisis situations

·        Display good judgment and decision making skills

·        Remain calm and clearheaded under pressure

·        Possess well-defined organizational and time management skills

·        Co-Supervises teams of employees and volunteers

·        Collaborates with outside community organizations and SLO County Behavioral Health

·        Facilitates weekly support groups, classes, presentations, trainings, and outings in the community

·        Provides 1:1 support to community and county mental health members

·        Medi-Cal Billing Required


Job Environment:

·        Light, physical activity. May include moving or lifting up to 25 lbs.

·        Involves moderate risks that require safety precautions and the risk of exposure to potential crisis situations. 

·        Position immediately supervises one or more employees and supports the team approach to meeting program objectives.


Hours/Salary

Part Time, 20 hours per week

Anticipated hiring range is $18.00-20.00 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Individuals with experience as a consumer of mental health services encouraged to apply. Ability and experience with group facilitation. Ability to work respectfully and harmoniously with peers. Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to take direction from a supervisor. Ability to work well in stressful situation. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and strong oral, written, and communication skills. Well defined organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and flexibly. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Able to work effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level. Must use reasonable precaution in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Conditions of employment include: Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees. Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
