About the Campaign
Joe Holberg is running for Mayor of Chicago in 2027 — a campaign built on turning Chicago's economic engine back on, keeping the city affordable, balancing the budget, and improving education for every student. We're looking for the next generation of leaders to help build this movement from the ground up.
About the Role
This isn't a coffee-and-copies internship. As a Field Intern, you'll be embedded in the real-world mechanics of a Chicago mayoral campaign; knocking doors, building relationships in neighborhoods across the city, and helping lay the groundwork that puts Joe on the ballot.
What You'll Do
• Conduct direct voter outreach through door-to-door canvassing and community engagement
• Collect petition signatures for ballot access
• Attend community events, town halls, and neighborhood meetings
• Track and report field data (voter contacts, turf coverage, feedback)
• Collaborate with campaign staff on outreach strategy and messaging
• Help organize and mobilize volunteers
What We're Looking For
• Passion for Chicago and its neighborhoods
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfort talking to strangers and working outdoors in all conditions
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Willingness to travel across Chicago neighborhoods
• Must be available for the full 15-week program
• Prior campaign, organizing, or community engagement experience is a plus, but not required
Details
• Duration: 15 weeks
• Compensation: Paid
• Location: Chicago, IL (citywide fieldwork + Campaign HQ in the loop)
• Schedule: Expect evening and weekend hours during the fall
