Position Summary: The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief executive and general manager of Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region, accountable to the Board of Directors for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial sustainability of the organization. The CEO leads the development and execution of board-approved strategy, represents Goodwill publicly, and ensures the mission, values, and long-term goals of the organization are achieved.

1. Relationship building — Build upon the trust and rapport with employees, the executive
leadership team, the Board, community partners, donors, and civic stakeholders. GORR’s people and
relationships are its greatest assets; this CEO will invest in them from day one.
2. Sustain organizational stability and advance the strategic plan — Ensure the continued
development and success of strong retail and workforce development performance and the
executive team, and take meaningful near-term steps to strengthen operational resilience while
executing on the strategic plan.
3. Drive revenue diversification — Identify and pursue concrete opportunities to grow and di
versify revenue beyond retail, with a focus on potential new social enterprise models as well as
enhanced fundraising, philanthropic relationships, and grant development to ensure GORR’s
long-term financial sustainability
Salary: $380,000-$420,000.00 per year
Areas of Responsibility
Leadership
• Lead development and implementation of
Goodwill’s long-range strategic plan, deter
mining major goals, objectives, and time
frames for accomplishment.
• Help develop and then translate board-ap
proved strategy into clear operational plans
and measurable outcomes for all divisions of
the organization.
• Provide strategic vision and align staff and
stakeholders to grow the organization and its
positive community impact.
• Serve as a visible and trusted leader internally
and externally, modeling the mission and
values of Goodwill in all interactions.
Management
• Lead and develop a high-performing
executive leadership team, providing
direction and support to senior leaders responsible for
Retail Operations, Workforce Development,
Finance, People and Culture, AEDI, Legal, and
Advancement.
• Ensure the organization meets or exceeds
annual budget, profitability, and liquidity tar
gets.
• Maintain financial transparency, strong
internal controls, and compliance with all
contractual, regulatory, and covenant requirements.
• Create and maintain a healthy organizational
culture that attracts, retains, and motivates a
high-performing, diverse team.
• Advance antiracism, equity, diversity, and
inclusion (AEDI) through an operational plan
that puts intent into action, including
multilingual communications, supplier
diversity, AEDI education for employees and Board
members, and ongoing engagement with
tribal communities and lands in the region.
• Steward workforce development programs
that focus on communities furthest from
opportunity, improving access, inclusivity, and
impact for populations across the 15-county
region.
Community Engagement
• Oversee and support the evolution of ser
vices, growing community support programs
to expand reach and impact.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with
community partners, employers, donors, civic
leaders, educational institutions, and policy
makers.
• Serve as Goodwill’s chief spokesperson and
ambassador, representing the organization
at community events, public forums, and ex
ternal gatherings.
• Ensure a consistent, clear, and effective public
presence and brand identity for Goodwill and
all its constituents throughout the region.
• Leverage digital-first strategies and technolo
gy to optimize engagement and impact with
customers, donors, program participants, and
students.
• Advocate to legislators and policymakers on
issues affecting the Foundation and the com
munities it serves.
Board Governance
• Partner with the Board Chair to support
effective governance practices and meaningful
Board engagement.
• Keep the Board fully informed of
organizational performance, risks, and strategic
opportunities; attend all Board and committee
meetings.
• Support Board development, recruitment,
and onboarding to continually strengthen
Board diversity, expertise, and effectiveness.
• Advance Board members’ own AEDI journey
and build greater engagement and
connection among current and incoming members.
• Ensure the Board and staff are kept informed
of the condition of the organization and the
important factors influencing it.
Finance
• Provide direction and support to the Chief
Financial Officer in preparing annual budgets,
monitoring financial performance, and
ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the
Board and Finance Committee.
• Ensure regular fiscal oversight of the
organization’s total assets (approximately $150 mil
lion) in concert with the CFO and Finance Committee.
• Research and pursue opportunities to
diversify revenue and income streams,
including exploring new social enterprise models and
potential acquisition of revenue-generating
assets
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Management and Partnership
Develop, mentor, and supervise the Advancement Team, continuously striving to recruit, retain, and develop diverse and top-quality talent. Partner closely with the Workforce Development Team and the Retail Team to help achieve their revenue and service goals for Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region.
Board of Directors
Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors on all matters pertaining to Advancement, including managing the Fundraising and Community Engagement Committee.
