Summary

This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Office of Information Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), Privacy Branch. As the Chief, directs and manages the work of the Branch responsible for developing and overseeing agency implementation of privacy and related information policies.


Duties

As Chief of the Privacy Branch, your responsibilities and typical work assignments will include:


Leading and supervising a team of policy analysts in -

developing government-wide policy guidance, and supporting agencies in the implementation of the guidance, under the Privacy Act of 1974 and the privacy provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, E-Government Act of 2002, the Federal Information Security Modernization Act, and the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018;

overseeing agency implementation of privacy policies, principles, standards, and guidelines for compliance with applicable privacy legal and policy requirements, including through the review of privacy and related regulations, System of Records Notices, and Matching Notices;

reviewing agency regulatory and policy proposals that impact individual privacy in the handling of personally identifiable information for alignment with Presidential policies and priorities; and monitoring and analyzing legislative and policy proposals and testimony that implicate privacy for conformance with the policies and priorities of the President;

Establishing and overseeing processes for the review of agency privacy-related submissions;

Recruiting and supervising a highly competent staff of Policy Analysts, including: interviewing candidates for positions in the Branch; making recommendations for appointment, promotion, or reassignment; planning work operations, directing the flow of work, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work; assigning work to staff and evaluating performance; counseling, advising, and instructing individual employees on both work and administrative matters; and promoting training and development needed by employees;

Coordinating within OMB and across the Executive Office of the President to ensure that initiatives are implemented in compliance with privacy policy requirements, and in conformance with the policies and priorities of the President; and

Representing OIRA, OMB, and the Executive Office of the President in interagency and public forums.
