Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Communications Director located in Washington, DC. The Communications Director will oversee and execute the office's strategic communication initiatives, including crafting press releases, managing media relations, and developing social media strategies. The role requires drafting speeches, coordinating interviews, and responding to media inquiries. Additionally, the Communications Director will be responsible for monitoring current events, advising on communication strategies, and ensuring that the Representative's messaging aligns with the office's priorities.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in public relations, media outreach, and press release writing
  • Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and digital strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including speechwriting and editing
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans
  • Experience in building relationships with journalists and media outlets
  • Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking abilities
  • Familiarity with government operations, legislative processes, and public policy is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or related field
