Job Description
The Majority Staff of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, under the leadership of Chairman Cassidy, seeks a Communications Director to oversee the Committee’s communications and media operations. This senior-level position is responsible for managing the press team and developing and executing a communication strategy that advances Chairman Cassidy’s priorities across the HELP Committee’s jurisdiction.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior communications advisor to the Chairman and Staff Director on the direction and strategy for the Committee.
- Work closely with the Chairman, Staff Director, Deputy Staff Director, and legislative staff to develop and coordinate messaging on policy, oversight, and legislative initiatives.
- Develop and oversee the messaging initiatives for the HELP Committee, ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic communication of the Chairman’s work.
- Manage a communications team, including a Deputy, Digital Director, and Press Assistant.
- Edit and approve all press releases, speeches, op-eds, talking points, and oversees social media and assists in planning press events.
The ideal candidate has:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in communications or public relations.
- Experience leading a communications team on Capitol Hill or in a federal agency.
- Strong relationships and experience working with reporters and editors, as well as on-the-record experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and work collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong conservative beliefs and credentials
- Political campaign experience a plus
