Opening: Communications Manager/Senior Manager


Description


The Association of American Publishers is seeking a communications professional to join our small team of law, policy, and communications professionals as a Communications Manager or Senior Manager with the title to be determined commensurate with experience. The position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Chief Communications Officer.


What You Will Do


·       Support legislative, regulatory, and litigation priorities.


·       Research and report on industry developments.


·       Produce policy information, infographics, and event materials.


·       Develop and execute key deliverables for media outlets, including SM.


·       Assist with press releases and press relations.


·       Contribute to short-term and long-term communications and public affairs strategies.


·       Work closely with policy professionals, lawyers, and program executives.

At a minimum, competitive candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, outstanding references, significant writing experience, and an aptitude, if not passion, for advocacy.  


Under the guidance and direction of AAP’s CCO and senior team, the Communications Manager/Senior Manager will have assignments pertaining to copyright and artificial intelligence, education, global markets, research and scholarship, and freedom of expression. The position also supports AAP’s industry reports and publications, congressional relations, and litigation priorities.


Compensation


The projected starting salary is $65k to $75k. This is a good faith compensation range that considers the specifics of the position and varying qualifications of candidates.
