We’re hiring a junior team member to provide communications, campaign, and administrative support. As a small, “all-hands-on-deck” team, we’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, comfortable handling a variety of responsibilities, and excited to gain experience across all facets of public affairs and strategic communications work.
A strong candidate follows and cares about politics, is familiar with a wide range of social media platforms and posting conventions/styles, and brings the same engaged, positive, detail-oriented energy to admin/office work as to more substantive, creative projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage calendars, scheduling, and meeting logistics for firm leadership; prepare meeting/call agendas and notes; assist with occasional travel and reservations.
- Support invoicing, vendor coordination, and basic operational processes; provide general administrative support to ensure efficient firm operations.
- Assist in the development and execution of communications strategies, projects, and campaigns.
o Monitor media coverage, social media activity, and industry developments relevant to client priorities, prepare client reports and analysis
o Conduct research on news, politics, and policy issues to support client projects, policy initiatives, and communications efforts.
o Prepare regular or one-off clips packages for distribution to client team/executives
o Develop and maintain media lists and assist with pitching and reporter/editor engagement.
o Assist in the creation and execution of paid and organic social media campaigns, including learning different programs, tools, and platforms, drafting copy, creating basic graphics, developing content plans/calendars, setting up targeting, and compiling analytics for reporting.
o Track and report on earned media placements, social/digital media campaign performance, and other campaign outcomes.
o Draft and edit client-facing communications materials, including press releases, talking points, fact sheets, newsletters, and stakeholder communications.
- Support the planning and execution of client events, providing on-site and advance support as needed.
- Attend select conferences, webinars, client meetings, and industry events to monitor discussions and prepare summaries and reports for clients and internal teams.
This is a majority-remote position with regular in-person attendance required in the DC area for team and client meetings, events, etc. Residency in the DMV area is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital communications campaigns; Interest in new and emerging social media trends, platforms, and campaign techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other common communications and social media management tools; experience with Canva, Meltwater, Quorum, and Wix preferred.
- Ability to learn and work with new tools/platforms quickly.
- Interest in public affairs, government relations, policy, and advocacy, particularly as related to technology, entertainment, copyright, and telecommunications.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience as Congressional, Administration, or campaign staffers/interns. Additional valuable experience includes roles within trade associations, advocacy organizations, or other public affairs/communications firms.
- Sense of humor, strong work ethic, and resourcefulness required; general interest in news, culture, current events, and Democratic politics is a plus.

- Salary range between $55-75k commensurate with experience
