Job Description
Position Summary: The Outreach Coordinator provides critical support services to the Maryland SPCA’s Community Care and Advocacy programs. She/He/They will work collaboratively with the Community Partners Manager and the Community Care and Advocacy Director to help meet the goals for each program, with a primary focus on Kibble Connection, the MD SPCA’s pet food pantry. The KC program collects, stores, and distributes pet food and other supplies to thousands of pet families and dozens of partner organizations throughout the year. The Community Outreach Coordinator will coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate the MD SPCA’s Kibble Connection food pantry program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate the MD SPCA’s Kibble Connection program which includes scheduling and managing KC community pick-ups
- Respond to inquiries about the program and provide assistance with the application via phone, email and in-person
- Collaborate with the Inventory Assistant to maintain inventory of all food and supplies within the Kibble Connection Program
- Coordinate large scale pet food and supply donations from and to partner groups, which includes regularly driving company vans
- Work under the guidance of the Community Partners Manager and Community Care and Advocacy Director, to assist in the continual evaluation of the MD SPCA community relations programs to enhance program processes and day-to-day operations
- Work with cross-functional teams to provide program data for additional needs throughout the organization
- Responsible for leading, directing, and supervising volunteers to meet program needs.
- Follow all safety guidelines as described in the safety code of conduct
- Maintain cleanliness of the area in which the Community Outreach Coordinator is working
- Responsible for reporting any problems/challenges encountered to management in a timely manner
- Proactively contribute to create and maintain a positive culture within the team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- One year in customer service-oriented work
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Animal welfare or outreach experience preferred, but not mandatory
- Excellent problem-solving skills an analytical ability
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work both independently and in groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel
- Experience working with inventory in a warehouse environment
- Must adhere to all guidelines as set forth in the MD SPCA's Employee Handbook.
- Willing to learn, implement and teach new protocols
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
- Inherent sense of urgency about providing superior customer service
- Holds qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the MD SPCA's mission
- Clean driving record with a valid state-issued driver's license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (Tuesday through Saturdays required)
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to use proper lifting technique to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
- Ability to perform physical duties, including animal handling
- Position is a mix of a office work, long periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and reaching
- Is regularly exposed to animals, animal waste, weather conditions, and potentially hazardous conditions, including the risk of animal bites
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
