Job Description
Position Summary:
Community Outreach Managers (COM) advance the mission of KABOOM! by identifying and confirming child-serving organizations for playground project grants. They are passionate about matching communities with resources that can help them thrive. The COM will support potential grantees navigate an in-depth screening process while simultaneously preparing them for playground projects. The COM is tenacious, organized, and a strong communicator. As a COM, you will get to know each community, listen to, and learn from their lived realities, and ultimately, become their coach, ally, and internal advocate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner Outreach and Communication
- Research geography-specific demographic, income and racial data to identify areas of greatest need and create outreach strategies to target these areas.
- Network and build relationships with potential partners through cold calls, emails, and other targeted communication.
- Communicate the KABOOM! mission, project overview, and requirements to municipal agencies, community based nonprofits, schools, and corporate and foundation funding partners.
- Solicit and review applications from potential partners for KABOOM! project opportunities. Grow a pipeline of viable community partners across major cities.
- Facilitate conference calls with decision makers and community members to prepare for, and determine fit for funding opportunities.
- Analyze and assess organizations for site viability, construction logistics, and Build Week execution.
- Actively coach and support organizations through the screening process by clearly communicating next steps, identifying solutions to challenges, and providing applicable resources.
- Receive, review, and finalize necessary paperwork for grant consideration, including landownership documents and contracts.
- Draft professional Community Partner profiles for funding recommendation
- Ensure a seamless and detailed handoff to the project execution team.
Project Tracking and Communication
- Develop and execute detailed plans to track progress across multiple, concurrent projects timelines.
- Provide comprehensive project updates for internal and external partners including Funding Partners
- Utilize Salesforce to log activities, communicate internally, post updates, and update cross-team records.
Education and Experience Required
- Relevant experience in relationship-building, such as community outreach, client services or a similar field
- Passion for achieving results that benefit communities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present information and facilitate conversations with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
- Experience partnering with external organizations to accomplish a project, program, or co-owned goals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities and timelines.
- Creative problem solving for challenges, changing timelines, and ambiguity.
