As the Community Relations Coordinator, you will assist in impacting the community through a commitment to education and mentoring, health and fitness, military recognition, and basic needs as well as NBA sponsored program and player charities. In addition, you will work directly with the Detroit Pistons Foundation on fundraising initiatives and reporting, as well as community programming for Foundation grantees.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and executing community events including event management and budgeting
  • Activating NBA Cares platforms (Women’s Empowerment, Pistons Mentoring, , etc.)
  • Collaborating with Corporate Partnerships department on sponsored community events, platforms and campaigns
  • Assist as departmental liaison with Digital Media to manage all CR social media content and channels
  • Assist in leading all aspects of departmental micro site and subsequent web pages, content and format
  • Assist with fundraising efforts and community programs on behalf of the Detroit Pistons Foundation, including but not limited to online auction fundraising, following bidding trends and acquiring items to improve fundraising potential
  • Manage department’s master calendar and game night synopsis ensuring all events and activations are up to date
  • Assisting in managing interns and game day staff
  • Manage internal/external autograph item donation requests, and ordering/inventory of department giveaway items
  • Collaborate with creative team to design and create department collateral (i.e. bi-monthly newsletter, event materials, etc.)
  • Assist with operation of Community Ticket Program
  • Aide Director with all other projects, as assigned
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as, Sport Management, Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience in Community Relations and/or Corporate Social Responsibility, Foundation or nonprofit role, Event Planning, Marketing
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Experience in Ability to multi-task and work in a faced-paced environment.
  • Must have ability to work under tight deadlines and to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Previous work in the field of athletics or entertainment a plus
