Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative (DAUSTR)

Summary
This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The incumbent serves as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (DAUSTR) for Eurasia for assigned area and advisor to the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (AUSTR) for Europe and the Middle East.
Duties
As the AUSTR's principal expert and senior advisor on all trade negotiations and initiatives involving the incumbent coordinates U.S. trade policy on assigned areas. Leads or participates in U.S. delegations to international trade negotiations and conferences on issues affecting trade.
As a Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative (DAUSTR), GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Represents the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative at seminars and conferences. Prepares and delivers speeches on U.S. trade policy and negotiations related to assigned areas.
Briefs U.S. private sector, civil society, cleared advisors, and labor advisory groups on assigned areas.
Explains and defends the Administration's trade policies to foreign governments, the public, the press and the Congress. Represents USTR in contact with foreign government officials regarding assigned area.
Represents the AUSTR for assigned area at interagency meetings and briefs the AUSTR on specific issues, as appropriate.
Serves as liaison with the USTR and professionals in the agency and other agencies in preparing work for submission to higher level interagency committees such as the National Security Council.
