The Democratic Attorneys General Association provides political and policy support to Democratic State Attorneys General in their mission to protect citizens, promote progress, and support civil rights.

 

Title: Deputy Finance Director for AG Relations

Reports To: National Finance Director

Salary Range: $85,000-90,000

 

Purpose:

The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) seeks to hire a Deputy Finance Director to work directly with our AG candidates. The Deputy will work with the AG’s to support, manage and grow their donor relationship and effectively utilize their time. The Deputy Finance Director will be responsible for directing call time with AGs, assisting in planning trips and events with AGs and candidates, and at times staffing the AGs at events. This role involves a high level staffer for candidate management, donor stewardship, projection management, and donor prospecting. We are looking for an accomplished fundraiser with a proven record of principal management, meeting fundraising goals, and maintaining strong relationships with donors. This role will be at the center of our important work with our Attorney Generals. DAGA seeks a smart, disciplined, good humored and seasoned staffer.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize, manage, and staff AG call time, including meeting assigned goals, creating call sheets, coaching principals, and tracking and managing data
  • Provide and manage fundraising projections and reports to share with the National Finance Director and senior leadership 
  • Successfully represent DAGA in public meetings with candidates as well as at quarterly events 
  • Participate, as needed, in program planning processes and to provide insight to related fundraising opportunities
  • Some required travel to meet with candidates and their teams
  • Required work on some evenings and weekends for fundraising events

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of fundraising experience
  • Worked with and grew a major donor portfolio of donors $5,000-$500,000
  • Experience working in fundraising on a campaign required
  • Donor relationship management and strong knowledge of stakeholders
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, particularly in the development of proposals to donors within the corporate and legal practice community
  • Commitment to a broader understanding of educating the public on the work of Attorneys General 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Results-oriented with a proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines and objectives
  • Project management skills that enable the juggling of multiple tasks, allocating and optimizing resources, and managing timelines
  • Sense of humor, positive attitude, and outside the box thinker/fixer

Closing:

  • DAGA’s office is open 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern, but extended and nontraditional work hours are required.
  • DAGA offices are in downtown DC but are currently three days required in the office due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DAGA can currently accommodate remote work, although the position will be DC-based once DAGA reopens its office.
  • DAGA will work with potential candidates to schedule remote interviews and process onboarding procedures remotely, as necessary.
