Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Congressman Raul Ruiz (CA-25) seeks an experienced, highly skilled, and creative Digital Director to lead digital strategy in a fast-paced Washington, DC office. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter who can confidently draft, produce, and execute high-quality digital content with minimal oversight. The Digital Director will report to the Communications Director, work closely with the Member, and support both earned and paid communications. Extended hours and tight deadlines should be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the office’s digital strategy across social media, email, website, and multimedia platforms.
  • Independently draft and produce polished digital content, including graphics, videos, and copy, and pitch concepts to the Communications Director and Member.
  • Draft social media scripts.
  • Manage the content calendar and analytics across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director on message development, framing, and rapid response.
  • Oversee digital output across Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Maintain and update the official website.
  • Monitor national and local media coverage and identify relevant digital trends.
  • Clip and caption TV appearances, floor speeches, long- and short-form videos, and additional multimedia content.
  • Manage Franking and Digital Mass Communications, including SMS, advertising, and digital ads.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Content Creators, and Social Media Influencers. 
  • Ability to read analytics. 
  • Ability to monitor and respond to website and social media inquiries.
  • Ability to package b-roll, and interviews for the media. 

Ideal Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to independently draft, design, and execute high-quality digital content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to public service and constituent engagement.
  • Advanced video editing capabilities.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to respond quickly to breaking news and social media trends.
  • Expertise with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Critical Mention, and/or similar platforms.
  • Experience with L2/Indigov.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional communications or digital media experience.
