Job Description
The Office of Congressman Chris Deluzio seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and creative Digital Director to join an active communications team. This position is based in Western Pennsylvania and will work out of the Carnegie, PA District Office. The Digital Director is responsible for developing a strong online presence, capturing the Congressman’s work and activity in Western PA, and amplifying that through local media, digital content, and constituent communications.
The ideal candidate will be creative, have strong proficiency in crafting digital content, fluency on all channels of social media, video editing experience, be a strong writer, and be a detail-oriented team player able to handle multiple tasks at once.
In this position, the ability to hit deadlines along with excellent writing, organizational, and social media skills are essential. Ideal candidates are self-starters who can successfully work in a fast-paced environment while collaborating in a small team. Ties to Western PA, flexibility, and a sense of humor are greatly appreciated. The position is based in PA-17 and reports to the Communications Director.
Key Qualifications:
- Lead social media, email, and multimedia strategy.
- Draft, pitch, and execute social media content to the Communications Director and Member.
- Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and advisories.
- Coordinate digital campaigns tied to legislative and district initiatives.
- Manage content calendar and analytics across all platforms.
- Assist in preparing the Congressman for interviews and media events, especially for local media.
- Manage the technology and software needed for interviews, podcasts, video filming, and other recordings.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director on message framing and rapid response.
- Develop and manage digital content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, Threads, and YouTube).
- Support the office’s social media strategy by drafting social media posts and producing video and graphic materials.
- Update and manage the official website.
- Monitor national and local media coverage, as well as social media trends.
- Clip, edit, and caption TV appearances, floor speeches, long & short form videos, and more.
- Lead the planning and execution of district-based press events and storytelling.
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to public service and constituent engagement.
- Experience with video editing, on social media, Adobe, Kapwing, Canva, or other platforms.
- Strong writer and editor who stays abreast of breaking news and social media trends.
- Expertise with Canva, Adobe Suite, and/or similar platforms.
- Experience with principal management.
- At least 2 years of prior experience working in communications.
- Understanding of social media trends, ability to analyze data, and work with digital vendors to decide how to deliver the Congressman’s message most effectively.
- Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in representation of the Member.
- Availability to work long hours as needed.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to work cooperatively/courteously with others.
Regular tasks include:
- Planning, managing and creating content for member’s social media platforms and website.
- Graphic design, photography, video filming, and video editing.
- Managing in-district media relations and press lists.
- Drafting releases, talking points, franked communications, newsletters, and advisories.
- organizing and implementing press events.
- Staffing the Congressman at events when he is in District.
- Planning district press events.
- Research and pitch collaborations with online content creators.
