Job Description
The Office of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney (D-MD-06) seeks a Digital Director with extensive social media and digital storytelling to be based in her Washington, D.C. office. The position reports directly to the Communications Director and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the communications team’s day-to-day operations. This role will occasionally travel between Washington, D.C. and Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District.
Key responsibilities include:
- Write and design innovative social and digital content highlighting the Congresswoman’s district, legislative, and constituent service work.
- Collaborate closely with the Congresswoman, Communications Director, and staff to craft cohesive and engaging digital campaigns.
- Serve as the primary photographer for the Congresswoman on Capitol Hill.
- Edit and maintain the Member’s website and social media to include relevant updates, press releases, news, photos, and more.
- Lead the creation and distribution of the weekly newsletter to highlight the Congresswoman’s official work.
- Assembles daily press clips and social media reports.
- Support the Communications Director in responding to local and national media inquiries and serves as backup media contact.
- Ensure all materials comply with House rules and communications regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of digital storytelling experience working with various digital platforms, maintaining websites, and managing social media accounts. Candidates should possess exceptional writing skills, photography experience, photo and video editing and graphic design tools, and be organized. Candidates should be detail-oriented and highly motivated to serve in a fast-paced environment. Our team values professionalism, positivity, strategic thinking, and good humor. Western Maryland state ties are a plus.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually. Additionally, the office provides a robust benefits package.
