DIGITAL DIRECTOR / PRESS SECRETARY – The office of Congressman Josh Riley is seeking a creative and adaptable Digital Director / Press Secretary to join a fast-paced communications team based out of the Washington, D.C. office.
This role requires a versatile communicator capable of balancing press writing with digital production. The ideal candidate will possess 1 to 2 years of experience in digital media and political communications, with a proven ability to manage daily digital operations and translate complex legislation into compelling, accessible content. Ties to Upstate New York are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the office’s social media strategy, managing a comprehensive content calendar from concept to execution.
- Write and edit press materials, including releases, advisories, talking points, and the constituent newsletter.
- Capture high quality photos and video of the Congressman at events and in meetings.
- Staff and support logistics for the Congressman's interviews, press conferences, and other public-facing events, both virtual and in-person.
- Coordinate joint press efforts and shared messaging with other Member and Committee offices.
- Compile daily news clips and monitor regional trends for rapid-response opportunities.
The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience.
This position will sometimes require evening and weekend work and travel to the district. The Digital Director / Press Secretary will report to the Communications Director based in New York.
