Position Summary
The Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading the development and execution of integrated marketing, communications, branding, and engagement strategies that advance the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Ascentria Care Alliance. This role oversees enterprise-wide communications and marketing initiatives that strengthen organizational reputation, increase community awareness, drive fundraising efforts, support growth objectives, enhance employee engagement, and drive alignment across programs and service lines.
The Director serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and collaborates across all business units to ensure consistent, mission-driven messaging that reflects Ascentria’s values, strategic direction, and commitment to serving individuals, families, and communities facing systemic barriers.
This position requires a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who can balance high-level planning with execution in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Brand Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth priorities.
- Lead enterprise brand management efforts to ensure consistency across all communications, campaigns, digital platforms, and service lines.
- Support organizational initiatives including strategic growth, fundraising, advocacy, employee engagement, and community partnerships.
- Guide brand positioning and storytelling that strengthens awareness, trust, and reputation among key audiences.
- Partner with executive leadership to support organizational change management and strategic initiatives through thoughtful communications planning.
Communications & Content Strategy
- Oversee the creation and distribution of internal and external communications including press releases, executive messaging, newsletters, social media, advertising campaigns, website content, speeches, presentations, and thought leadership materials.
- Ensure messaging is audience-centered, accessible, inclusive, and aligned with organizational values.
- Lead crisis communications planning and response in partnership with executive leadership.
- Develop communications frameworks and toolkits to support leaders across the organization.
Marketing & Campaign Management
- Lead integrated marketing campaigns that support organizational awareness, recruitment, fundraising, program growth, and senior care census development.
- Oversee digital marketing strategies including paid advertising, SEO/SEM, email marketing, analytics, and social media engagement.
- Monitor campaign performance and use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- Support launch and activation plans for new initiatives, services, locations, and organizational brands.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor marketing and communications staff, freelancers, agencies, and external vendors.
- Foster a collaborative, creative, and solutions-oriented team culture.
- Establish workflows, processes, and project management systems that improve efficiency and responsiveness across the department.
- Serve as a key liaison between Marketing & Communications and business units including Advancement, People & Culture, Senior Care & Living, Community Services, and Executive Leadership.
Media Relations & Public Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, community organizations, referral partners, and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to elevate organizational visibility through earned media, speaking engagements, partnerships, and community engagement.
Digital & Creative Oversight
- Oversee organizational websites, digital presence, creative development, and visual storytelling efforts.
- Ensure digital platforms remain current, engaging, and aligned with brand standards and user experience best practices.
- Support photography, video production, and multimedia storytelling initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required.
- Minimum of 6–10 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or brand strategy.
- Experience leading integrated communications and marketing efforts within nonprofit, healthcare, human services, senior living, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams, vendors, and cross-functional projects.
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Experience with crisis communications, media relations, and executive communications.
- Knowledge of digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, content management systems, and social media strategy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic environment.
