The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office is the City Legislative Affairs (CLA) serves as the principal liaison between the Administration
of Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Council, working to foster productive relationships with the City
Council. The Office assists the Mayor’s Administration in developing and advancing the Administration’s
agenda through City Law and City budget.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
As a member of the Intergovernmental Affairs senior team, the Director will:
- Represent the Mayor and City agencies before the City Council and serves as the liaison between
- Responsible for advancing the Administration’s local legislative agenda and preparing the
- Coordinate the Administration’s presentation on a wide range of oversight topics that the City
- Manage a staff of Legislative Representatives who assist in achieving these objectives.
- Assist staff with legal strategy.
- Support staff with analyzing and interpreting laws, court decisions, legal authorities, and other
- Collaborate directly with the NYC Law Department on legal analysis.
- Work with staff and agencies in reviewing and preparing legislation.
- Prepare written analyses of legislation.
- Advocate on behalf the legal interests of City Legislative Affairs.
- You have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association,
- You have 5+ years of experience directly involving legislation
- You have demonstrated understanding of and experience with any combination of the following:
- You have excellent ability to exhibit professional demeanor in a fast paced and high-pressure work
- You have excellent verbal, written and editing skills, including experience writing press releases,
- You have outstanding attention to detail and strong ability to prioritize and manage a wide array
- You have strong interpersonal, collaborative and organizational skills.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary,
equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is
$197,287.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
