About the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football team and a member of the National Football League’s AFC South Division. The Jaguars are one of the NFL’s youngest franchises, playing their first regular season home game on September 3, 1995 in Jacksonville, Fla., and have since won four division titles. The Jaguars are owned by Shahid Khan, a visionary leader whose businesses include Flex-N-Gate, Fulham Football Club, All Elite Wrestling, Bold Events and Iguana Investments. Since 2012, Mr. Khan’s impact on the Northeast Florida community has exceeded $500 million, including charitable giving through the Jaguars Foundation, capital improvements to TIAA Bank Field and the creation of Daily’s Place, which hosts upwards of 40 concerts a year. Over the next several years, the Jaguars and Iguana Investments will build a new Sports Performance Center to house all football operations and launch Phase 1 of the Shipyards, a complete reimagination of the riverfront which will include a five-star hotel, office building and modernized marina.

Summary
Under the leadership of the Chief Communications Officer, develop and execute the corporate communications strategy for the Jaguars and related entities including the Jaguars Foundation, Iguana Investments, 1st DownTown Jacksonville and all other business endeavors. Develop and maintain relationships with members of the local, national and international media in a professional and strategic manner while serving as a reliable resource for information, thereby enhancing the reputation of the team, creating new fans locally and abroad and protecting the integrity and credibility of the organization and its personnel. Serve as liaison between the public relations department and all business departments and provide proactive media outreach, facilitating daily inquiries on a variety of subjects and executing interview requests for front-office staff.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic communications outreach for departments including president’s office, sponsorship, ticketing, fan engagement, people development, real estate development and community impact to promote programs, promotions, initiatives and innovations.
  • Communications support for these departments includes key message development, press releases, media advisories, copywriting and proofreading, external pitching, media preparation and internal content development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries surrounding real estate projects, including the Stadium of the Future and the Jacksonville Shipyards. Collaborate with real estate team on proactive communication regarding ongoing projects, including drafting of talking points and press releases, planning of press conferences and media events and support for the 1st DownTown Jacksonville initiative.
  • Draft and distribute key statements and fan responses to sensitive issues.
  • Assist with creation and development of content for sponsors and partners, providing idea generation and support with local media outreach for top-tier sponsors.
  • Connect effectively with non-sports media outlets and national business media contacts to facilitate proactive pitching of off-the-field storylines and content.
  • Maintain distribution lists for all external communications to media outlets, particularly business, trade and non-sports media.
  • Serve as primary proofreader and provide copywriting support for marketing department, ensuring all materials are reviewed before distribution from Jaguars accounts.

Job Requirements
Required
  • At least seven years of experience in developing and implementing strategic communication plans.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage across multiple companies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externally.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Strong sense of personal initiative and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience with a sports team, commercial real estate, crisis communications or major consumer brand.
  • Knowledge of local Jacksonville media and political landscape.
