Director of Development / Salary Range -- $140,000 - $170,000

Position Description

 

Position Description

  • Externally oriented spending 50% of his/her time externally meeting with donors, making new connections, engaging volunteers and committee members with a focus on gifts of $10,000 -- $50,000. 
  • Partners with the CEO and meets weekly to discuss, determine strategic visits, strategy and next steps for $10,000+ level prospects.
  • Ensures that key metrics specific to annual goal are met, and exceeded where possible, particularly with respect to donors of $10,000+.
  • Creates and manages an individual giving program for JASEM including giving clubs and engagement strategies for donors.
  • Creates, in partnership with consultants, a 12-month plan for Development at JASEM.
  • Creates and implements a robust corporate giving/sponsorship/engagement program for JASEM with a clear ROI for supporters.
  • Engaged as part of a team in implementing a multi-channel branding and positioning campaign designed to heighten the stature of and awareness about JASEM.
  • Supports the Board of Directors and Development Committee in fundraising, cultivation and engagement efforts.
  • Supervises the work of firms engaged by JASEM for grant-writing, cultivation, strategy, reporting and special event logistics.
  • Thoughtfully determine staffing structure over the next several years to support JASEM’s goal of increasing contributed revenue to $3,000,000 annually.

   

Qualifications

  • Passion for youth development, particularly related to financial literacy, career development and entrepreneurship
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to meet people easily and make connections.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, generations, cultures and beliefs.
  • Proven track record of fundraising results with a strategic approach to donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Well versed in current fundraising trends, methods and best practices.
  • Minimum 5 years of institutional fundraising with a comprehensive program preferred.
  • Comfortable, with demonstrated experience, working with $10,000+ donors
  • Capital campaign experience a plus.
  • Savvy with social media as a tool for engagement.
  • Proven track record working with corporate and community volunteers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the metropolitan Detroit region
  • BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Self-starter and able to meet and exceed goals.
