Job Description
The Director of Expert Engagement will lead the day-to-day operations in support of a growing community of experts focused on the future of innovation policy in America.
This role is responsible for organizing and managing the infrastructure behind the community: coordinating communication, planning events, supporting expert development, and helping participants achieve impact across media, policy, and research opportunities.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional operations and coalitions manager who can turn strategy into execution, manage a high volume of moving pieces, and create a thoughtful, high-quality experience for participants at every level of seniority. This person should be highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
Community Management
● Manage the day-to-day operations in support of the expert community
● Coordinate expert onboarding, communications, scheduling, and engagement
● Maintain strong relationships across the expert community
Events
● Plan and execute salon discussions, policy retreats, executive roundtables, issue briefings, and public-facing events
● Coordinate invitations, logistics, speaker participation, and executive follow-up
● Ensure events are well-run, polished, and a value add for participants
Expert Support and Activation
● Coordinate speaking opportunities, media appearances, commissioned writing, and other public engagements
● Place experts across conferences, publications, podcasts, and other policy forums
● Work closely with leadership and communications teams to align experts with strategic opportunities
Qualifications
● 5–10+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, executive engagement, member organizations, coalition management, or other related fields
● Proven ability to independently manage projects
● Strong organizational and project management skills
● Excellent interpersonal and relationship management abilities
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Highly detail-oriented with strong execution instincts
● Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to operate professionally in executive, political, academic, and institutional settings
