Job Description

American Land Title Association (ALTA), founded in 1907 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the national trade association and voice of title insurance and settlement agents, real estate attorneys, abstracters, and underwriters. Our members range from small, one-county operations to large national title insurers that conduct title searches, examinations, closings, and issue title insurance that protects real property owners and mortgage lenders against losses from defects in titles.

We are in search of talented candidates for our Director of Federal Government Affairs. The Director works with the Vice President, Head of Federal Government Affairs and colleagues on ALTA’s Government Affairs team to shape ALTA’s policy agenda and represent the title insurance and real estate settlement services industry at the federal level. Will work to influence policymakers, negotiate legislation, and advocate on behalf of ALTA members to advance that policy agenda. This position will primarily handle engagement with Republican members of Congress and their staffs but may also engage with relevant executive branch agencies.

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree; five years’ experience working in policy advocacy or political engagement work at the Federal level; experience navigating federal policy issues impacting the housing, real estate finance, and financial services industry broadly and a keen understanding of the federal legislative process; existing relationships with federal policymakers, staff, relevant committees, or in executive branch agencies; experience working with, and effectively engaging, industry and coalition partners.
