District Liaison
Senate

The District Liaison will work with the Senator and Chief of Staff in developing policies, strategies and operations directed toward the Senator's district. Primarily, the aide will serve as the Senator's liaison to the district. The liaison will take input and commentary from constituents and work with the legislative and communications directors to translate this into policies and communications. The liaison will also serve, in-part, as a community organizer; thus organizing experience is required and work within the Greater Boston Latinx or Chinese communities is preferred. An in-depth knowledge of the Boston, Revere, Camridge or Winthrop communities is preferred. This position requires an ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends. The position is based in the State House, but will require time in the district; therefore, an ability to travel throughout the district is required. Spanish, Catonese, or Mandarin language fluency is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Interpret community needs into policies
Attend community meetings
Build a rapport with community members and leaders
Organize and build district level events
Prepare memoranda, brief Senator and Chief of Staff on relevant matters
Meets with constituents and advocacy organizations on legislative matters
Assists in managing the Senator's social media platforms
Responding to constituent communications
Drafts talking points and communications for the Senator.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
1-3 years of experience in field or community organizing
Outstanding social, oral communication and writing skills
Outstanding organizational skills
Spanish, Catonese or Mandarin language proficiency preferred
Ability to think strategically and creatively
High level of competency across all social media applications.
