Overview

Cape Eleuthera Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1997 to support transformational educational experiences with the mission of leadership effecting change on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The Foundation’s Philadelphia-based team raises funds to help young people realize their potential, explore academics outside of traditional classroom walls, gain perspective on cultures different from their own and make a positive impact on their world. The Foundation is the main grantor of The Island School, which delivers unique educational journeys through the High School Semester and Summer Term, Deep Creek Middle School, Elementary Learning Center, and Community Engagement and Partnerships in conjunction with research and sustainable development work done at the Cape Eleuthera Institute, a research and innovation hub. The Island School reimagines what education is for, and is redesigning how education is delivered.


Job Summary

We seek an enthusiastic, organized, and proactive individual to join our small Philadelphia-based team as a Donor Relations Associate. This new position reports to the Director of Development and will support the Executive Director, Director of Development, and Founder in tracking major gift, annual fund, and planned giving donor pipelines. This role will also participate in all fundraising activities including annual fund campaigns, as well as marketing and communications, prospect research, stewardship, and events. The ideal candidate is a strong multi-tasker, has outstanding communication, interpersonal, and research skills, and works well under limited supervision. 


Duties and Responsibilities

Development/Fundraising

  • Establish and maintain an annual stewardship calendar and lead general donor stewardship efforts, including preparing and sending annual endowment stewardship reports
  • Manage a small portfolio of Annual Fund donors and analyze giving patterns to increase donor retention and conversion rates
  • Work with Director of Development to plan, market, and execute annual fundraising campaigns, including Giving Day and Class Gift campaigns
  • Manage a grant tracking system, prepare and send grant reports and grant terms & conditions as needed
  • Draft and/or edit gift agreements and other solidifying documents
  • Maintain individual, foundation, and corporation donor records in Salesforce
  • Conduct research on prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Prepare and send pledge reminders and pledge agreements as needed
  • Regular gift entry from GiveCampus into Salesforce database
  • Coordinate and order gifts for departing Directors at the end of each fiscal year


Events/Administration

  • Participate in the preparation and execution of Foundation and School events throughout the year in the US and Bahamas, including Board meetings and Family Weekend
  • Respond to info@islandschool.org email and general phone inquiries as needed
  • Support general office management as needed with our small Philadelphia-based team


Skills and Qualifications

  • A university degree and/or an equivalent combination of education
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel occasionally throughout the United States and The Bahamas
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and organizational skills 
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of social media platforms (Google Suite, Instagram, Facebook, MailChimp) 
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Flexibility to work well with a diverse group of individuals (alumni, donors, volunteers, faculty, staff, parents, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently 
  • Engaging personality with the ability to socialize well with peers and supporters of the organization 
  • A creative, entrepreneurial spirit
