General Description: The Donor Relations Associate and Database Manager ensures the full and effective use of Salesforce to support Development operations and assists in the maintenance of donor stewardship at Hudson Institute. The Donor Relations Associate and Database Manager manages, develops, and maintains Salesforce as Hudson Institute’s donor database, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of donor contact and donation information, moves management, and structured reporting. The Donor Relations Associate and Database Manager also supports Hudson Development events, including monthly Chairman’s Advisory Board luncheons, virtual donor calls and videoconferences, Hudson’s annual gala, study tours, and other trips and events. Finally, the position will also be responsible for handling many aspects of donor relations. The position requires a high degree of collaboration with other members of the Development team, with the aim of inculcating a culture of effective use of Salesforce among all Development team members to structure, organize, and support more effectively Development operations. This is a full-time position based in Hudson Institute’s Washington, D.C. office reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. Some travel is required.

Essential Position Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships as well as the Associate Director of Development, the Donor Relations Associate and Database Manager:
- Manages the development and maintenance of data entry and Salesforce SOPs.
- Manages all donor data entry, including direct data entry and delegation of data entry to other team members as needed.
- Works closely with Hudson’s Accounting and other Development staff to ensure the integrity of donation logging processes.
- Maintains the integrity of donor data.
- Develops and refines relevant reports and dashboards, as needed.
- Trains other team members in the effective use of Salesforce to support their own development activities and to ensure redundancy in Salesforce operation.
- Supports a culture of Salesforce utilization to support all Development activities and donor sectors—individuals, foundations, corporations, and international partners.
- Ensures all donor intelligence and moves for all donor sectors are appropriately tracked in Salesforce.
- Supports the integration of Salesforce with other systems (such as Campaign Monitor) and departments (Public Affairs, Government Relations, Accounting, etc.).
- Manages the consistent and timely execution of all stewardship efforts, including thank-you note production, donor class, and managing up other stewardship activities to senior development staff and leadership according to stewardship SOP.
- Assists Development staff with planning and execution of Development-related events.
- Manages execution of certain mail projects.
- Produces correspondence with donors related to gift acknowledgement, tax receipts, and other communications.
- Provides an exceptional donor experience in person and via phone and email correspondence, as needed.

- Undergraduate degree required.
- Technologically savvy. Salesforce experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work closely and effectively with others—including Hudson’s senior management, trustees, research staff, and administrative staff.
- Superior writing, verbal, editing, and project management skills.
- General knowledge of the policy-making environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex and simultaneous tasks and assignments.
- Commitment to acting with integrity and the utmost professionalism.
