Job Description

Are you someone who thrives at the intersection of organization, strategy, and people? Do you enjoy being the hub that keeps a fast-moving, mission-driven office running smoothly? The Executive Assistant to our CEO is more than an administrative partner—you’ll help shape the rhythm of the organization, connect with key leaders and volunteers, and support initiatives that make a real impact in the community.

This role is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys variety, values collaboration, and can anticipate needs before they arise. You’ll work closely with the CEO and Special Projects Manager to ensure priorities are clear, projects move forward, and the organization is always ready for what comes next.

What You’ll Own

  • Be the CEO’s right hand: manage schedules, travel, communications, and meeting preparation so the office runs seamlessly.
  • Keep the organization connected: foster strong, professional relationships across staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners.
  • Support high-impact initiatives: help coordinate projects, events, and cross-departmental work that advance our mission.
  • Strengthen governance: support the Board of Directors with meeting logistics, materials, and follow-up, helping them operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain smooth operations: track key projects, manage expenses, organize files, and identify opportunities to improve processes.

Why You’ll Love It

  • You’ll play a pivotal role at the center of the organization, seeing the big picture and contributing to strategic priorities.
  • Your work will have tangible impact—helping the CEO and leadership team advance the mission of Girl Scouts every day.
  • You’ll interact with inspiring leaders, volunteers, and partners, building relationships that matter.
  • Every day brings variety, problem-solving, and opportunities to make things better for staff and volunteers alike.

Who You Are

  • Experienced: 5+ years providing executive-level support, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Skilled communicator: clear, professional, and tactful in all interactions.
  • Organized and proactive: able to juggle multiple priorities independently and anticipate what’s next.
  • Resilient and adaptable: you stay composed under pressure, pivot gracefully when priorities shift, and maintain a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Tech-savvy: comfortable with Microsoft 365 and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Flexible and dependable: willing to occasionally work outside standard hours and travel across DC, MD, VA, and WV. Reliable car transportation required.
  • Mission-aligned: excited to contribute to Girl Scouts’ commitment to leadership, community service, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Some of Our Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid HMO health insurance for employees (dependent coverage, POS, dental/vision available).
  • 3% employer contribution to 403(b), plus additional 2% match.
  • Generous paid leave benefits.
  • Paid holidays/office closures include: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and December 26-31. The Presidential Inauguration Day is also an observed holiday on January 20th every four years. One floating holiday, annually.
