Miami-Dade Democratic Executive Committee

Location: Miami-Dade County, Florida

Reports to: Chair, Miami-Dade Democratic Executive Committee

Commitment: Through December 2026

Type: Full-time, Exempt


About the Role

The Executive Director is the chief administrative position of the Miami-Dade Democratic Executive Committee (MDDEC). This position is responsible for managing the organization’s daily operations, staff, volunteers and programs, ensuring that all activities advance our mission to elect Democrats, engage voters, and strengthen grassroots infrastructure throughout Miami-Dade County.


The ideal candidate is a self-driven, collaborative leader with political experience, strong management skills, and a passion for empowering teams and communities to win meaningful change.


Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership & Management

  • Supervise staff, fellows, and contractors to ensure the smooth operation of all MDDEC initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chair, Steering Committee, and Standing Committees to execute organizational goals and track progress.
  • Facilitate committee operations by helping members identify resources, build relationships, and achieve their goals.
  • Manage internal communications and systems to maintain accountability, transparency, and timely follow-through.


Strategic Planning & Program Development

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the goals of the Florida Democratic Party and national Democratic priorities.
  • Design and oversee a Candidate Recruitment and Training Program to prepare a diverse and effective pipeline of Democratic candidates.
  • Launch and supervise a Fellowship and Volunteer Leadership Program to cultivate future organizers and campaign professionals.
  • Maintain and strengthen the DEC’s technological and data infrastructure, including data migration, VAN/Votebuilder management, and other digital tools.
  • Assume responsibility for new member onboarding and training.


Fundraising & Financial Oversight

  • Work with the Chair, Treasurer and Finance Chair to meet or exceed monthly fundraising targets through donor cultivation, events, and digital strategies.
  • Support the Budget Committee in developing and maintaining a realistic and transparent annual budget.
  • Ensure all financial reporting and expenditures comply with FDP and state guidelines.


Coalition Building & Community Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with grassroots organizations, labor unions, community leaders, and allied advocacy groups to coordinate on local and state issues.
  • Represent MDDEC at public events, coalition meetings, and political functions when the Chair is not available to strengthen the organization’s visibility and credibility.
  • Support local voter registration, engagement, and turnout efforts through coordinated campaigns and community partnerships.


Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with Florida Democratic Party and state statutory requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Membership Roster in coordination with Party officials.
  • Stay current on election law changes and ensure the organization meets all regulatory deadlines.

This position builds leadership capacity across the organization, holding staff, committee chairs, and members accountable to shared goals while fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and purpose. The Executive Director keeps the trains running on time, drives results, and continuously challenges the organization to grow stronger and more effective.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in political campaigns, nonprofit management, or advocacy leadership.

• Proven track record in fundraising, budget oversight, and staff supervision.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across diverse communities.

• Proficiency with NGP VAN, Votebuilder, and common campaign management software.

• Deep commitment to Democratic values, equity, and civic engagement.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during election cycles.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within Miami-Dade County or other large, diverse metropolitan areas.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (or English and Creole).

• Experience in digital organizing, voter data analytics, or political compliance reporting.


Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience and competitive within the nonprofit and political sector. Benefits package details will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
