Research Assistant – International Religious Freedom & Foreign Policy (Remote/Part-Time, DC-Based Preferred)
Pagodian Capital is seeking a part-time/remote Research Assistant specializing in international religious freedom, transnational religious movements, and religion in foreign policy.Key Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze developments in religious freedom policies, transnational faith networks, and interfaith initiatives using multi-source intelligence.
- Assess the geopolitical and social stability implications of religious dynamics in great-power competition.
- Produce structured briefs and contribute to closed-door discussions on religion’s role in global governance and international relations.
- Collect primary-source materials on religious persecution, faith-based organizations, and cross-faith cooperation.
Requirements:
- U.S. citizen or Washington, D.C.-based foreign national.
- Master’s candidate or degree in International Relations, Religious Studies, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Familiarity with U.S. international religious freedom policy, State Department IRF Office, USCIRF, or faith-based NGOs.
- Strong analytical and English writing skills; ability to distill complex issues into clear, high-quality reports.
- Flexible schedule, strict confidentiality, and remote collaboration proficiency.
- Understanding of how religious actors influence great-power politics and regional stability.
This is a project-based/remote role with compensation negotiable based on deliverables.
Ⅲ. Senior-Level Position:
Senior External Researcher – Religion, Geostrategy & International Affairs (Remote/Part-Time, DC Network Required)
Pagodian Capital is seeking an accomplished Senior External Researcher to lead analysis at the intersection of religion, geostrategy, and international affairs.Key Responsibilities:
- Design and drive forward-looking research agendas on religious freedom, transnational religious movements, and their impact on global governance and great-power competition.
- Build and leverage expert networks (including former State Department IRF, USCIRF, faith-based NGOs, and think tanks).
- Provide rigorous oversight of junior research outputs and author in-depth reports/commentaries.
- Represent the firm in high-level interfaith dialogues, policy consultations, and international forums.
Requirements:
- U.S. citizen or Washington, D.C.-based foreign national.
- Ph.D. (or pursuing) in International Relations, Religious Studies, Public Policy, or related; or Master’s + 3 years/Bachelor’s + 5 years relevant experience.
- Deep expertise in international religious freedom policy, faith-based organizations, or religious dimensions of foreign policy.
- Track record of leading policy projects or publishing in reputable outlets on religion and geopolitics.
- Exceptional cross-cultural communication, project management, and remote delivery capabilities.
- Strict confidentiality and flexibility with non-standard hours.
