Job Description

The Josie Caballero for Montgomery County Council, At-Large Team is hiring a full-time, countywide Field Director.

Josie is a small-town Latina raised by a single mother, grandparents, and later a police sergeant stepfather, instilling in her a deep commitment to hard work, community service, and country. She served in the U.S. Navy as a certified nuclear power operator, completing four deployments aboard the USS Ronald Reagan before continuing her career in public service as an activist and political strategist. A proud trans woman, Josie has served as a founding member of the DNC Trans Advisory Committee, and a member of the Maryland Commission of LGBTQIA+ Affairs, advocating for equality and opportunity for all. Now, she is running for Montgomery County Council at-large to expand housing, lower costs for families, support public education, protect local jobs, protect immigrant communities, and advance bold climate solutions.

This is a senior-level position that will manage multiple layers of volunteers and run an ambitious field program. The Field Director will report directly to the Campaign Manager, with a start in March 2026​. This position is based in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The Field Director will oversee the campaign’s field effort, which is focused on expanding the campaign’s base and turning out our voters in the 2026 Maryland Democratic Primary Election. The Field Director will collaborate closely with all members of the team.

Responsibilities:

● Finalize and implement a countywide field plan.

● Recruit, train, and manage field organizers and volunteers.

● Create staff and volunteer training materials.

● Create aspirational goals and coach organizers and volunteers to success.

● Develop appropriate metrics and manage systems of accountability for staff and

volunteers.

● Collaborate with and facilitate communication between field teams from partner

organizations and campaign offices.

● Facilitate communication between the field team and other sections of the campaign

● Analyze data and modeling to create and track progress in voter contact universes.

● Leverage innovative voter contact tools and integrate them into the field plan.

 

Requirements:

● Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle

● Ability to work long or irregular hours, including weekends and evenings

  • Proficiency using Votebuilder (VAN)
  • Demonstrated commitment to electing Democratic candidates up and down the ballot

Preferred but not required:

● Maryland experience or ties to the state

● Experience organizing in both urban and rural settings

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Experience in training, supporting, and managing staff in an electoral or community engagement capacity
  • At least three cycles of political campaign experience, including at least two cycles in the field and at least one cycle managing staff and volunteers

Compensation:​ $4,000.00 per month. The employee will be paid on a monthly basis, on the first of each month.

Dates of Employment: Date of Hire - June 30, 2026, with potential to renew if primary victory achieved and work product found satisfactory.
