Job Description
Jake Johnson is a lifelong math teacher, union leader, and father of four running for Congress in Minnesota’s first congressional district. Jake grew up in a small town in southern Minnesota, the son of a garbage man and a meter reader, with ten siblings. Jake worked hard to make it into the middle class, supported along the way by his church community, public programs, and great teachers, which inspired him to become a teacher. Now he’s running for Congress to ensure that his students continue to have the same opportunities that he had growing up.
Jake Johnson for Congress is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the campaign’s fundraising program. This is an entry-level role with significant growth opportunities and hands-on experience in all aspects of political fundraising.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct donor research and prepare materials for candidate call time
- Assist in managing and staffing the call time program, including drafting call sheets and tracking progress
- Support pledge tracking and donor follow-up to ensure contributions are completed
- Assist with planning and executing fundraising events, including logistics, invitations, and staffing
- Maintain and update donor databases (NGP), including data entry and cleaning
- Help manage the finance intern program, including recruitment and onboarding
- Draft thank-you notes and donor communications
- Assist with finance reports, trackers, and daily administrative tasks
- Provide general support to the campaign team as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends
- Proficiency with Google Suite
Preferred qualifications:
- 1+ years of previous finance or administrative experience (internship or volunteer experience acceptable)
- Familiarity with NGP, ActBlue, or similar tools
- Ties to Minnesota or the Midwest
