Project Overview:

North Carolina For The People (NCFTP) seeks an experienced nonprofit fundraising consultant to strengthen and streamline our fundraising and communications infrastructure over three months. This project will focus on improving our donor systems, developing sustainable digital fundraising workflows, and aligning our outreach efforts across platforms such as GiveButter, Action Network, and social media.

The consultant will assess current processes, create or refine donor engagement systems, and develop audience personas to guide future fundraising and messaging strategies. Deliverables include a documented donor management workflow, updated fundraising communications plan, and staff training materials to ensure long-term sustainability beyond the contract period.

This initiative is a short-term project designed to position NCFTP for long-term fundraising growth, improved audience targeting, and better integration between our fundraising and communications efforts.

Scope of Work:

  • Collaborate with the NCFTP team to assess existing fundraising and communications systems, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and implement streamlined donor management and digital fundraising workflows using GiveButter, Action Network, and related platforms.

  • Create or enhance templates for donor emails, thank-you messages, and digital appeals that align with NCFTP’s brand and messaging.
  • Integrate fundraising campaigns with NCFTP’s social media and digital communications strategies.
  • Support the preparation of visual storytelling materials, including basic social media assets, graphics, and call-to-action visuals for donor outreach or campaign promotion.
  • Document all systems, processes, and recommendations to ensure continuity for NCFTP staff after the project concludes.
  • Provide light staff training or handoff sessions on the new systems, communications workflows, and best practices for digital storytelling in fundraising.

Deliverables:

By the end of the contract, the consultant will deliver:

  • A documented donor management system configured for NCFTP’s current platforms (GiveButter, Action Network, etc.).
  • A short-term fundraising and digital communications plan outlining strategies for donor engagement, social media integration, and list-building.
  • A developed audience persona framework to guide message targeting and donor cultivation.
  • A set of templated digital fundraising materials, including sample emails, visuals, and messaging guides.
  • A training and handoff package with documentation and recorded guidance for NCFTP staff on maintaining systems and executing future campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience setting up or improving nonprofit fundraising systems and digital campaign infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with GiveButter, Action Network, or comparable CRM and donor management platforms (e.g., EveryAction, Bloomerang, Network for Good).
  • Strong understanding of digital fundraising, donor segmentation, and ethical email list management.
  • Familiarity with visual storytelling and basic digital content design (e.g., creating social media assets, infographics, or campaign graphics using Canva or Adobe tools).
  • Knowledge of integrating fundraising tools into digital communications and social media campaigns.
  • Excellent writing, organization, and documentation skills with attention to workflow clarity.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with civic engagement or democracy-focused nonprofits preferred.
