The LEGO Group Government and Public Affairs team is currently looking for a hardworking and creative individual to join our team. Location: Washington, DC but other locations may be considered as allowed by remote working
This is an outstanding opportunity to gain experience in corporate responsibility while supporting our public affairs engagement and government relations activities from Washington DC.

Bring your passion, creativity and expertise to play by joining the LEGO Group’s Government and Public Affairs (GPA) team as a student worker. In this position, you will play a key role in helping to drive our public affairs engagement and thought leadership agenda across a diverse range of issues in the Americas.
The GPA team supports the LEGO Group’s mission to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. We do this by enabling The LEGO Group to thrive and grow through strategic engagement with governments and related partners; growing market opportunities, protecting our business from political and legislative risk, and improving our reputation. Additionally the team advocates for systemic change across international eco-systems that enable children to learn through play.
The role is a 20 hours per week, part time paid internship until the end of June 2021, with the possibility of a one term extension. This position reports to the Senior Director of Governmental and Public Affairs and works directly with the Public Affairs lead for the Americas in Washington, DC.
Core Responsibilities:
You will have the opportunity work side by side with members of our dynamic and creative teams to execute our public affairs strategy.
Research and develop briefings on state and federal public policy related to environmental responsibility, education, responsible digital engagement.
Develop internal and external communications materials and strategies to support policy advocacy by the LEGO Group to policy makers and 3rd parties.
Assist with event (virtual and physical) planning, execution and post-event wrap up for events held in online and or in Washington, DC, select states and internationally.
Attend relevant events, coalition meetings, congressional hearings and briefings and provide detailed minutes.
Benchmarking and landscape assessments to support development of event activation toolbox and internal issues management.
Administrative tasks in support of project and partner execution

What your will bring in your toolbox:
We are looking for a creative, thoughtful, self-motivated student worker with an interest in public policy, corporate social responsibility and government affairs to help our small GPA team achieve the LEGO Group’s strategic objectives. You are someone who shows initiative and enjoys problem-solving, delivering results and thinking strategically. You have high integrity and will always do what’s right for us and our primary partners: children.
Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies
Background or strong interest in education and/or environment policy preferred and a broad focus on public policy, law, government administration, international affairs also accepted
Excellent writing and communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
Interest or experience in working within political spheres, including with local, state or national government, student body government, clubs, grassroots advocacy, associations and/or others.
Event and graphic design experience a plus
English – Advanced (written + spoken)
