Job Description
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearm and ammunition industry, is offering a unique, hands-on internship opportunity in its Capitol Hill office. This internship is designed for undergrad students, law school students, and recent graduates with a strong interest in public policy, government affairs, and the shooting sports industry.
Position Overview:
Interns will work closely with the Senior Director of Government Relations – Federal Affairs, gaining first-hand experience in the legislative and regulatory process at the federal level. Interns will monitor and analyze activities in Congress and relevant federal agencies, assist with research and policy tracking, and attend hearings, briefings, and stakeholder meetings. The position provides a front-row seat to the development of public policy affecting the firearms and ammunition industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor legislation and regulatory developments impacting the industry
- Assist in preparing policy briefings, memos, and reports
- Attend Congressional hearings, federal agency meetings, and relevant coalition events
- Support strategic communications and advocacy efforts
- Conduct policy and industry-related research as needed
Qualifications:
- Current college student or recent graduate in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field
- Strong interest in federal government affairs and/or the shooting sports industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Professionalism, discretion, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
Additional Information:
- This is an in-office position only
- Part-time (24-29 hours/week)
