Job Description
The graduate program assistant will support the Program Manager of Global Democracy Research with the administration of REPAL, an international network of scholars of Latin American political economy for which the Kellogg Institute serves as institutional host through 2031, and its upcoming 2027 conference at the University of Southern California (USC) in July of 2027.
Duties include supporting the management of the REPAL email account, drafting correspondence and announcements in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, distributing calls for proposals via the REPAL listserv and social media
accounts, and updating the WordPress website in all three languages.
The assistant will also support the proposal and selection cycle — building submission forms, tracking proposals and letters of recommendation, chasing missing materials, and drafting decision correspondence — as well as conference registration reconciliation, and formatting of the final program. Additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have professional proficiency in Spanish and English (Portuguese preferred), excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently against recurring deadlines.
Background or coursework in political science, international relations, or Latin American studies is preferred, as is familiarity with G Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, and Claude and other AI products. Workload represents and average of 5 hours/week, and is compensated at $19/hr.
Masters or PhD students preferred.
No physical demands for performing duties, beyond occasional work from the Kellogg office. Potential for travel to the conference itself during the summer of 2027.
