The World Affairs Council of Orange County (WACOC) is seeking a motivated Grant Writing & Fundraising Intern to support our mission of advancing global education, civic engagement, and international dialogue in Orange County. This role is ideal for college students interested in international relations, nonprofit leadership, or public policy.
Time Commitment
10 – 15 hours per week with a consistent schedule to be identified with the student for at least 1 year/ 4 academic quarters preferred. Shorter terms available upon request.
Compensation
Our internships are unpaid positions; however, we offer a $300 quarterly stipend and are happy to work with your school to help you receive academic credit for your internship.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in international affairs and the area relevant to the respective internship position
- Must be a current college/university student or recent graduate
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be reliable, responsible, and hard-working
- Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit work
- Familiarity with research databases or Google Workspace
What you’ll do:
- Research foundation, corporate, and local grant opportunities
- Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and fundraising materials
- Assist with donor outreach and fundraising strategy development
- Help track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with WACOC leadership on development planning
