You will be based in one of our offices in North America or Europe as part of our healthcare sector. You will lead the strategic engagement and communication and build the reputation of health-wide firm initiatives. You will lead a team of colleagues and contractors in amplifying the health initiative and its impact across the firm and externally as well, working to build the firm’s reputation through publishing, media relations, content design, social media, external partnerships and events, and reputation risk management.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will have the overall responsibility for developing a robust strategic engagement and communications plan comprising of both external relations and internal communications within the healthcare sector.  

In this role, you will implement an innovative and comprehensive strategy and roadmap to increase McKinsey’s reputation in the health domain, building global brand recognition and awareness with new and existing audiences, and enhancing the global influence and reach of the organization through traditional media, as well as with the use of digitally enabled marketing tools. 

You will build a network of key editors, journalists, policymakers, senior executives and academics, and work with the relevant firm teams to strengthen relationships with these audiences through the media and important strategic influencers.

You will help to identify reputation risk situations by mapping strengths/weaknesses and work with the firm’s reputation risk management function to prevent, monitor, prepare for, and if necessary, handle risks as they emerge. You will also establish a trustworthy relationship with firm stakeholders.

You will work closely with the communications manager who oversees an integrated editorial calendar, maintains a robust story-telling pipeline and collaborates with media - both print and social, from mini-campaigns such as webinars, podcasts, small publication to larger campaigns and events like flagship publications, large annual events and speeches at global health forums.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree; advanced degree highly preferred 
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications and external relations in health, including day-to-day handling of relationships, content marketing, strategic reputation building and managing reputation risk ; experience in public affairs will be valued 
  • Track record of developing communications strategies with government, institutions and/or healthcare audiences and executing them for a large, high-profile, global brand; excellent knowledge of corporate marketing and brand management
  • Experience with and passion for with digital tools for marketing strategies 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a demonstrated record of driving innovation from the ideation stage through to sustained execution and impact; demonstrates courage to try new things and find creative yet pragmatic ways of creating lasting change in a large organization with decentralized decision-making 
  • Proven ability as a team leader with a great track record of managing a diverse group of individuals to meet organizational objectives 
  • Self-motivation, with an appetite for working in a low-structure environment; high comfort level with uncertainty and creativity
