About the Role: Join the New York City Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) office as an Intern and contribute to shaping impactful service projects, events, and partnerships across the city. Gain practical experience in governmental relations and community outreach, and develop valuable skills in data management, project development, and event coordination. You'll have networking opportunities with government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in governmental relations and community engagement while supporting initiatives that directly benefit New Yorkers!


Responsibilities:

  • Input and maintain accurate data related to IGA activities, events, and partnerships.
  • Assist in researching and analyzing potential focus areas for service projects and community events.
  • Support the development of proposals and presentations for new partnerships and initiatives.
  • Help build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including government agencies, community organizations, and businesses.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of events hosted or supported by the NYC IGA office.
  • Assist in preparing briefs, reports, and other materials for meetings and presentations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated to achieve desired goals and objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and able to handle multiple tasks with ease.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in government affairs, community development, or public service.
  • Prior experience with data entry or database management.
  • Familiarity with New York City government structures and community organizations.
  • Experience in event planning or project management.
  • Demonstrated interest in civic engagement and public policy.


Requirements:

  • Residency: must be either a New York State resident, or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university in New York State.
  • Education: must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on Political Science, Public Administration, Urban Studies, or a related field. You must have at least Sophomore standing if you are enrolled in an undergraduate program.
