Independent Women's Forum / Independent Women's Voice

Independent Women is now accepting applications for our 2025-2026 internship program.

Independent Women's sought-after internship program hosts some of the most qualified and intelligent female college students from across the nation. Interns provide critical support to their respective departments, overseeing regular tasks or starting drafts of needed outputs for their teams. This support allows each of their colleagues to continue to focus on high-impact work, and also provides interns resume-boosting, real-world work experience in their chosen field. Interns are heavily engaged with their departments and invested in our mission.

Independent Women internships are not a make-the-coffee type of experience! Interns leave our program better equipped for their chosen career field, with training in relevant software and learned adept.

Independent Women's internship program runs on a trimester basis: spring (Jan. through May), summer (June through Aug.), and fall (Sept. through Dec.), with flexible start and end dates able to accommodate various intern schedules. While interns commit to one term, high-performing interns may be welcomed to extend their internship.

Interns support a single department at Independent Women and are paid a monthly stipend. Internships may be available in the following departments:

  • Communications - Media Relations and Productions (DC preferred, full-time preferred)
  • Communications - Marketing
  • Communications - Social Media
  • External Relations (hybrid/must be local to Washington, DC)
  • Advocacy
  • Investor Relations

Exact tasks depend on the department.

We boast an all-remote office environment, and most of our internships are 100% remote. Candidates for hybrid positions must be local to Washington, DC. Interns must be technologically proficient and comfortable with working independently.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, and current enrollment in a college or university degree program
    • Major in Communications, Political Science, Government or Policy areas a plus
    • Recent grads may be considered
  • Access to reliable internet
  • Working laptop or desktop computer
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Meet)
  • Ability to manage her time to maximize efficiency without procrastination
  • Availability to work around 20 hours per week in the 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Eastern timezone
  • Teachable and can-do attitude
  • Passion for Independent Women's mission and policy stances
  • Local to Washington, DC (if applicable)
