We address a broad range of issues, including national and global security, democracy, human rights, political and economic development, peace-building, conflict resolution, and various other issues at the local, national, and global levels.

Position Overview
Orion Policy Institute is seeking Summer 2026 interns to support its research and policy analysis across multiple focus areas. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in global affairs, security studies, and emerging policy challenges.
Interns will be assigned to one or more thematic or regional portfolios, including national/homeland security, terrorism and extremism, transnational crime, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, cybersecurity policy, or AI/tech policy. The internship offers hands-on exposure to policy research, analytical writing, and the day-to-day work of a nonprofit think tank.
Qualifications
* Current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in international relations, political science, security studies, data science, or a related field
* Demonstrated interest in at least one of the following areas: national/homeland security, terrorism and extremism, transnational crime, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, cybersecurity policy, or AI/tech policy
* Prior research experience (academic, policy, or professional) is a plus
* Ability to distill complex policy topics into clear, accessible messaging
* Strong analytical skills and a passion for global policy research and development
* Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment
