Job Overview

Be Strong International (BSI) is seeking a mission-driven and relationship-focused Development Manager to lead our fundraising strategy and drive growth. This key leadership role will build and steward relationships with individual donors,

corporate partners, foundations, and community stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability and programmatic expansion. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and passionate advocate for our work and is 

someone who brings both heart and results. 

 

Additional Responsibilities and Duties 

 

Donor Development & Stewardship

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and major gift prospects. 
  • Create engagement strategies that promote long-term donor support and increase giving levels. 
  • Identify opportunities to feature key donors through reports, newsletters, media highlights, thank-you campaigns, and branded events. 
  • Maintain consistent and mission-aligned stewardship practices that reflect BSI’s core values. 
  • Attend key networking, philanthropic, and community events to build a strong pipeline of donors. 
  • Remain consistent with best practices for donor engagement and retention. 

 

Campaign Strategy & Appeals

  • Plan and execute donor campaigns including year-end appeals, online fundraising, annual giving requests, and peer-to-peer initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to develop cohesive messaging and content for campaigns. 
  • Create donor-facing materials (impact reports, social media content, mailers) that communicate BSI’s story with clarity and emotion. 
  • Provide insights on performance metrics for each campaign and provide analysis for continuous improvement. 

 

Grant Management & Institutional Fundraising

  • Identify and research new grant opportunities aligned with BSI’s mission. 
  • Develop compelling grant proposals and renewal applications in partnership with program and finance teams. 
  • Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements, deliverables, and timelines. 
  • Maintain accurate grant tracking records and dashboards to monitor pipeline, deadlines, and awarded funds. 

 

CRM Management & Reporting

  • Manage BSI’s fundraising database, including donor segmentation, pipeline management, and data inputs. 
  • Develop and maintain reports and utilize a dashboard to track giving patterns, donor engagement, and revenue growth. 
  • Support automation and workflow enhancements in CRM to improve team efficiency. 
  • Create fundraising SOPs that ensure systems and processes for donor management are executed according to BSI core values. 

 

Events & Sponsorships

  • Lead fundraising event planning including donor luncheons and receptions, community fundraisers, and signature events. 
  • Coordinate with vendors, volunteers, and internal team to ensure events run smoothly. 
  • Identify and solicit corporate sponsors and partners for events and campaigns. 
  • Develop and manage sponsorship benefit packages and fulfillment processes. 

 

Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skill

 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or related field. 
  • Experience with proven success in individual giving and grant writing. 
  • Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience; track record of raising at least $500,000 preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to write compelling proposals and tell powerful stories. 
  • Demonstrated experience with CRM systems (HubSpot and GoHighLevel preferred) and donor analytics. 
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Comfort with public speaking, presentations, and relationship building with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with event logistics, sponsorship management, and fundraising best practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team. 
  • Proficiency in data analytics and financial reporting. 
  • Graphic design experience (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite). 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May have to travel to multiple locations daily. 
  • May have to attend after-hours scheduled work events. 
  • Available to work occasional evenings or weekends. 

 

Competencies

Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills. Experience in public relations, community 

relations and/or public speaking. Experience in soliciting stakeholders for financial support.

Physical Demands:

This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
