Description:
Congressman Vern Buchanan’s (FL-16) Washington, D.C. office is currently seeking qualified individuals to serve in his Washington, D.C. office for the Spring of 2024. This internship provides students with a firsthand understanding of the functions of a congressional office and the legislative process. Intern responsibilities vary but include answering phones, sorting mail, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, giving tours of the Capitol building, and drafting press releases and constituent letters on various issues. Additionally, the office encourages and will facilitate networking opportunities for interns and staff members.
Hours:
Full-time interns will need to report to the office from 8:45AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday in order to meet the full-time rate.
Part-time hours shall be discussed with the Intern Coordinator.
Pay:
Full-time/part-time interns will be paid a competitive DC rate.
Transportation Accommodations:
Interns will be able to use the Metro and will be reimbursed for their commutes to and from the office.
Housing:
The U.S. House of Representatives does not provide housing. There are several affordable housing options within DC.
